1. The Bible stands alone in that it doesn’t attempt to defend its inspiration.
2. Modern science was born in the 17th century because of a belief in an unchanging God of order, purpose, and consistency.
3. Modern concept of law and order is based on the Bible.
4. The Bible is the world’s bestseller, year after year.
5. The Bible is unique in its continuity. It was penned over 1500 years, by about 40 authors, compiling 66 books, in 3 different languages, on 3 different continents, penned by shepherds, generals, kings, fisherman, politicians, and servants. Yet, it is harmonious in all of its controversial themes and subjects. The words sound like they come from the same source.
6. The Bible was the first printed book. It has been translated into more languages than any other book.
7. The Bible has original texts preserved to within 35 years of the author’s death. Compared with tests of Julius Ceasar and Homor’s Illiad, the closest copied manuscripts are written 1000 to 1300 years after the originals were first penned. There are about 25,000 copies of the ancient NT to confirm the wording. The Dead Sea Scrolls show that the present Bible is accurate when compared with ancient Hebrew and support the Masoretic texts and the Septuagint.
8. No other book is more attacked and ridiculed for its accuracy and yet not one historic event has proved fictitious. Archeologists use it to discover sites. The Bible mentioned the Hittites even when there were no records of them. The Bible was ridiculed until archeologists discovered 1000’s of tablets in a library describing the Hittite empire, which was a rival to the great empires of Egypt and Assyria.
9. The Bible’s prophecies are fulfilled, such as the destruction of Tyre and Jerusalem, all the prophecies concerning Jesus. The re-establishment of Israel and the peace accord with Egypt.
10. The seeming contradictions are easily harmonized and also indicate that the gospel writers did not corroborate.
